Favorite Cookbook Friday...

I am a HUGE fan of soups, stews and casserole type dishes. I love that comforting feeling you get from a thick steaming bowl of delicious goodness. Food is about more than nourishment for me. It is about feeling and memory and engaging the senses. For me, it is that time of year that I pull out the soup recipes and start cooking them several times a week. Soups bring memories of sitting in Meemaw's kitchen while she cooked over a big pot of chicken and dumplings or my Dad as he would cook the mongo pot of vegetable stew or venison chili. When I am sick, the most comforting thing is a hot bowl of chicken noodle soup or potato soup. When it is cold and rainy there is nothing better than a Minestrone or Chowder. I love soup so much that my favorite Seinfeld episode is the Soup Nazi episode!!! LOL That is why this book appealed to me on so many levels. It is a delightful collection of homemade comfort goodness. There are beautiful illustrations of many of these recipes in the center of the book. It is easy to read and follow and many of the ingredients are easy to find and very familiar. If you love the healing comfort of soups, stews and casseroles you will really enjoy this cookbook...
