What I do for fun...

I am so warped!!! I cook three plus meals a day for my kids 7 days a week, then I go to culinary school 4 nights a week and then when the house is empty and I am by myself, what do I do??? I crank up jazz, bluegrass or contemporary Christian tunes (not all at the same time just - my mood dictates the kind of music) and COOK AND BAKE MYSELF INTO OBLIVION!!!!! LOL

Here is what I have been doing this weekend...

An Apple Salad for Rosh Hashanah...

Whole Wheat Challah for Rosh Hashanah...

This particular recipe is from the book Healthy Recipes from the Heart of Our Homes: In the Kitchen with Phyllis and Shirley

this is before it rises and those are poppy seeds sprinkled on after eggwash is brushed on

It is done and YUMMO!!!!! It is made with honey so it has a sweet taste and the soft texture is from the milk and eggs I use in the dough. It could almost be dessert!!!

A Chocolate Sorbet to usher out summer...

The Strawberries and Ricotta...

someone asked how I made this so here it is...

1 small package Ricotta Cheese (I buy the generic brand at Walmart most of the time)
Several tablespoons of powdered sugar - adjust to your own taste of sweetness
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
just a touch of vanilla extract and stir together and put over your strawberries.
